FILSCAP Campus Caravan goes to Mint College!
Fresh from Himig Handog’s 2019 awarding, first runner-up prize winner Davey Langit shared his story and tips
on songwriting to the MINT students last October 14, 2019.
“If you are a songwriter, you are a storyteller.
So you have to carefully choose the words to use but don’t be afraid to innovate.”
Easily, he got the students’ attention by sharing his stories on how he made his chart-topping hits like the ‘Selfie Song’, ‘Dalawang Letra’ interpreted by the Itchyworms, and his latest award-winning track ‘Simula ng Dulo’ which won the 2nd best song at the Himig Handog 2019. The entire afternoon was engaging and interactive as the students of MINT asked him on how he manages his struggles as a songwriter.
He has emphasized the importance of learning to collaborate with others and encouraged the students that they should not be afraid to innovate especially in writing songs.
SONGWRITING TIPS FROM DAVEY LANGIT

Gumawa ng kanta na wala pa
Play around with English and Tagalog words or maybe even using your dialect
Always be true to the story that you are telling.
He then charmed the students more by performing his song ‘Idjay’.
It was truly a fun-filled event and we’re truly grateful to everyone for your energy!
Now, off to our next campus! See you there!
