FILSCAP Campus Caravan goes to Cebu!

We miss Cebu already! Last November 16, we visited the University of Southern Philippines Foundation
with composer lecturer Aia De Leon and guest lecturer Davey Langit!¬†ūüôĆ

“Gusto kong gumawa ng kanta.”

Growing up,¬†Aia de Leon¬†didn’t have the freedom to express herself through music. It was only when she was 18 years old when she started pursuing her passion for music.

When she was starting out, she was this young kid who was invited by bands as back-up and something in her heart felt so alive.

The feeling she gets from creating songs:

“Ang sarap sa pakiramdam pag nakabuo ka ng kanta.

Imagine writing those words and hear them with melody.”

She performed “Akap” and shared that the lyrics of this song were inspired by a moment where she was having deep conversations with her closest friends.

It was also an amazing moment when¬†Aia de Leon¬†performed the song “Sundo” which was written for God.

We have another surprise for our students!
Himig Handog 2019 First runner-up winner, Davey Langit, also joined us for a fun Q&A portion.

Thank you Aia de Leon for sharing your journey as a songwriter to us!
The students learned so many songwriting techniques and tips from you and Davey Langit.

To the students of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation,
thank you for the very warm welcome and we hope that we’ll see you again in our future events!
