FILSCAP Songwriters’ Night Open Mic, now on its 13th!

We’ve heard a total of 86 original compositions last October 16 at Upperhouse BGC and we were so amazed.
Thank you to all the songwriters who shared their songwriting talents and stories with us.

The energy from our songwriters is overflowing – say hello to our Early Birds!

Hazel Faith, one of our FILSCAP members and Songwriting Year 4 Camper, opens the night with an acoustic version of her song “Kinikilig”! 😍

Magiliw Street amazed the crowd and got us falling in love! Can you believe that these students came from a midterm exam and went here to perform after? 💯 #studentpower

JABEZ BAND captured our hearts with their song “Sinta”, a love song they wrote at 3 in the morning. They usually write Gospel songs so this song has a special place for them.

Kaibigang Puno shares his song “Pilipinas” which was written to spread awareness about our indigenous tribes.

Sud Ballecer, our guest composer and the vocalist of the band SUD, performs “Di Makatulog” and leaves a special message
para sa lahat ng kinakabahan magperform:

“Okay lang yan kahit kinakabahan ka. Ibig sabihin niyan mahal mo talaga yung ginagawa mo.
Masasanay ka din as time goes by.”

Alamat ni Ug soothes us with their song “Nagiisang Butuin”. The band later shared that their music is heavily influenced by ukulele because they want to promote the use of this instrument.

Jupiter Street‘s Rajhan Lennon wrote “Katahimikan” because he was inspired by Barbie Almalbis‘ talk during the #FILSCAPMastersLectureSeries💯👌🏻

Did you know that the band’s singer, Monica Amodia, traveled far with her mom just so she can perform? She even has exams the next day. 😱

Jojo Reginio – a songwriter from Marinduque – performs his song “Pag-asa” which aims to uplift and give hope to cancer patients. He even performed this song in front of cancer patients and shaved his head in support of them.

And hey, did we mention we had some Master Camp guests over? Say hello to Top Suzara, Davey Langit, Jungee Marcelo, Trina Belamide, Yumi Lacsamana, Tito Cayamanda, Vehnee Saturno, Herbert Hernandez, Paulo Zarate, and Marlon Barnuevo!

Now off to Cebu for our last Open Mic for 2019!
