Olivarez College was one of our biggest FILSCAP Campus Caravans!

Thank you SSG and students for joining us and making this event successful
and thank you Gloc-9 for inspiring us with your story as a songwriter and for teaching the value of perseverance.

Eugene Layug, FILSCAP member and Olivares College student, serenaded the crowd as they waited for our composer lecturer, Gloc-9.

Gloc-9 performed “Hoy!” to open the #FILSCAPCampusCaravan👏👏👏

He told the story of his life as a service crew before being discovered as a rapper. He used to leave cassette tapes to record labels and the guards will tell him to wait for their call.

His biggest break started when an executive from ABS-CBN accidentally picked his tape from an archive of records.

The most effective songwriters are those who are good in empathizing with others.

“Sirena” was the hardest song Gloc-9 has written because of the sensitivity of the topic.

ADVICE TO THE YOUNGER GENERATION

Bawal ang umayaw.

Ang mga struggles sa buhay kailangan yan
para mahanap mo kung sino ka talaga as a songwriter.

Wag kang mahiya at wag kang matakot mag-try.
